DIRECTORS PROFILE:
Stephen has been involved in the lighting industry professionally since graduating with a Graduate Diploma in Applied Film and Television from Swinburne institute of Technology in 1987, prior to this he was a Secondary School Media & Drama teacher in Western Australia. After graduating from Film school, Stephen worked primarily as a writer/director of corporate documentaries, short films and award winning music clips, including the SBS 6 part, landmark documentary series. “Visual Instincts-Contemporary Australian Photographers’” in which he shot and edited the series for Izon productions. He took a more active role in the lighting side of things when he moved to Sydney from Perth. Over the next decade he worked on some of the most significant feature Films and Television produced in Australia including but not limited to:
- The Matrix,
- Mission Impossible,
- Babe 2,
- Farscape.
Having developed an eye for lighting movie sets, and with the tsunami of digitization flooding the Visual media arena, Stephen Branched out into Fashion and photography. Lighting offsite shows for Australian Fashion week and providing lighting back up to prominent Sydney Photographers… He decided to formalize this new approach by enrolling in the unique “Master of Illumination” course at prestigious Sydney University, graduating in 2013.
